Practice

Kentaro’s major qualification is in Aeronautical Engineering, obtained from the Tokyo Metropolitan College of Aeronautical Engineering.  He also holds a Master of Intellectual Property from the University of Technology Sydney.  Further Kentaro is a qualified IT-System Auditor in Japan, as well as a registered Japanese Patent Attorney.  Down under, he is a registered Patent and Trade Mark Attorney in Australia as well as a registered New Zealand Patent Attorney.

Prior to joining Pizzeys, Kentaro started his career as a network engineer in a subsidiary IT company of a large international airline and rose become the Supervisor of Domestic and International IT projects.  After this industry experience, Kentaro stepped into the Intellectual Property (IP) field, where he worked as a technical assistant, then patent attorney and also IT manager in a Tokyo-based patent attorney firm for over a decade.

In his former role, Kentaro assisted domestic Japanese clients, including car manufacturers, IT equipment manufacturers and construction equipment manufacturers, with the drafting of patent specifications and the prosecution of patent applications domestically and internationally as the lead patent attorney in the Tokyo firm.

Over his 13 years experience in Pizzeys (as of 2023), Kentaro has been working at Pizzeys’ Canberra, Brisbane and Singapore offices and has been involved in over 1000 patent cases across technologies including communications, automotive, medical device and so on.
